Well, here's a new red standard dress I ordered. Its beautiful. The small
image is the original dress they were selling (I'll put the back image
up shortly). It looks better on the mannequin then just on the hanger.
It is a rich red color and fits well. This dress is from a different
manufacturer than the salmon colored dress below. Again, I found someone
online (eBay this time) who made dresses. I liked the design of the
original dress, but I didn't fit the size they had. I contacted them,
sent measurements,
picked color, etc , paid and then waited.
Getting dresses this way may not be for everyone. But I'm so far, very
happy with what the outcome.

 Now
for a touch of history about this dress. I saw the original dress on
eBay one day, Jan. 2004. The original is in a turquoise blue. It had
a lower neckline in the front and a deeper neckline in the back. By the
time I decided I really did like it enough to want to bid on it, it had
already sold. I emailed the seller about the dress. They note that they
can make a dress custom if you want. After emailing back and forth I
decided it go for it and have the dress made. I was just getting back
into dancing and figured I would use it at a later time. Within a couple
of weeks of returning to lessons I found out there was a competition
in my area coming up in about 6 weeks time. I promptly emailed the dress
maker to see when the dress would be ready since I now had a somewhat
urgent need. I actually received the dress about 4 weeks after placing
the actual order.
I think it was well worth it. I'm very pleased with the dress and intend
to wear it at the upcoming competition. The actual color is more of a salmon
color. It is kind of bright but it shows up well on the floor and luckily
(so they say) the color looks good on me. |
